Ask HN: How to break into software eng after graduating with no internships?

I’m graduating this semester with zero internship experience. I’ve done some software development as an undergraduate research assistant, but I still feel underqualified for full-time software engineer roles. At the same time, I’m excluded from the typical internship path since I’m graduating.

Any advice for breaking into the industry?
