I built CrunchyThread because as an anime watcher I often found myself streaming on Crunchyroll, then switching tabs, searching Reddit for the right episode/thread, losing track of where I was. So I made a small Chrome extension that:
Detects what anime/episode you’re watching on Crunchyroll (via URL/DOM heuristics)
Looks up relevant Reddit threads for that episode/discussion
Presents them in a lightweight popup — so you can instantly jump into community conversations without disrupting playback
Some additional details:
No registration required.
I intentionally kept scope narrow (just the link-between viewing and comment threads) to maintain simplicity.
Version 0.1.2 just went live (Nov 12 2025) with bug fixes around detection latency.
Chrome Web Store
Privacy-first: the extension only monitors when you’re on Crunchyroll and with your consent invokes Reddit search; no third-party tracking or user profiling.
I’d welcome feedback from anyone who watches on Crunchyroll + engages in Reddit discussions: what features they’d want (e.g., multiple thread sources, language support, favorite show auto-threading), and if there are false positives/negatives in the matching.
